As the fashionista you are, you probably admire (and follow) at least one fashion designer or guru. Also if you are interested in the fashion industry or you work in this field, you probably like to be informed about everything inside this universe.

There are so many books, documentaries and films about our favorite fashion designers that we have decided to focus in all these powerful female designers who have succeed in the world of fashion during the history.

Lucky for you, lots of these fashion gurus and designers have written about their inspiring lives (or some popular writers and editors have done so).

Therefore, in DressedIn Ibiza, we’ve been digging up in order to bring you some of the absolute best fashion biographies about women in fashion to read this year:

1. The Woman I Wanted to Be by Diane von Furstenberg
The title of the book is a perfect representation of the designer´s story itself.
A small synopsis: Diane von Furstenberg started out with a suitcase full of jersey dresses and the idea of who she wanted to become. In her words: “the kind of woman who is independent and who doesn’t rely on a man to pay her bills.”
Since her origins, she has been able to establish her own fashion brand as well as she has raised her children! She is brave, determined and a genuine example of what feminism stands for!

2. Chanel: A woman of Her Own by Axel Madsen
Every fashionista knows the role Coco Chanel took in fashion (she not only revolutionized women´s fashion but she literally released them from the corset). However, few people know about Chanel´s most personal and intimate story.
A small synopsis: Coco Chanel lived a traumatic youth full of poverty and difficulties. However she overcame all of that to become one of the most popular and successful female designers of all times. Her story is really inspiring and powerful, and definitely, a must read for anyone interested in fashion!

3. GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso
Sophia Amoruso is the creator of the popular fashion website Nasty Gal.
A small synopsis: Sophia Amoruso´s story is another story of personal and professional success and overcoming! She created the web Nastygal right from her NY´s apartment coach. Since then, she has developed an entire fashion empire. If you enjoy the book, you should also take a look to the GIRLBOSS series in Netflix!

4.
D.V. by Diana Vreeland
As fashion editor of Harper’s Bazaar and editor-in-chief of Vogue, Diana Vreeland knows quite A LOT about the fashion universe.
A small synopsis: In this autobiography Diana Vreeland takes us around the world with her showing us her (always avant garde) vision of fashion and revealing the readers her obsession with the fashion industry!

5.
Grace: A Memoir by Grace Coddington
Grace Coddington is a fashion stylist and one of the most popular icons of the fashion industry.
A small synopsis: Grace whole career in fashion is astonishing and super interesting: she has worked as model, editor, photographer and stylist for Vogue for more than 30 years. Also, she has been Anna Wintour´s right hand for many decades. Don´t you want to read what she has to say about her???
